I thought "This Band Has No Past" by Brian Kramer was pretty good. Aside from history about Cheap Trick (primarily from Bun E. Carlos vantage point), it also shed a lot of light on the music and music bar/club scene in northern IL./southern WI. in the late '70s/early '80s...

I loved that one. It was a real deep dive for super fans.

I'm almost finished reading "Through The Crack In The Wall - The Secret History of Josef K" and really enjoying it.

Also read Grant McPhee's book on some of the lesser known Scottish bands "Postcards From Scotland" and found it very interesting to find out a bit more about some of the bands in my record collection.

Great suggestions. Neither were on my radar.

I'm looking forward to reading the Robyn Hitchcock book and the album of covers that goes with it looks very appealing also.

It's a quick read. I'm very excited about the covers album. Just saw him live too...always great!

I'm jealous as I've not yet seen Robyn Hitchcock live, the few times he played here, I was unable to go

The music is, of course, incredible—but his between song banter is out of this world.

Summer reading programs always have me juggling multiple books! Bob Stanley's Bee Gees book is still my favorite so far this year, but I stayed up late to finish Miki Berenyi's FINGERS CROSSED: HOW MUSIC SAVED ME FROM SUCCESS (a very heavy read at times with many trigger warnings for some people, but engagingly written). Just got Grant McPhee's book at the library (would also recommend WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE C86 KIDS? by Nige Tassell along those lines), along with Kathleen Hanna's REBEL GIRL. Need to finish former Replacements manager Peter Jesperson's EUPHORIC RECALL and Suzi Ronson's ME AND MR. JONES. John Higgs' new book on The KLF sounds great, too. Just preordered William and Jim Reid's NEVER UNDERSTOOD: THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN audiobook...

Forgot! Jen B. Larson's Hit Girls: Women of Punk in the USA, 1975-1983 is a must, and Robert Forster's Grant and I is worthwhile...

Mark Volman's Happy Forever is a good one too, and I need to read Vol. 2 of Sal Maida's White Label Promo Preservation Society series...

Steven Hyden's There Was Nothing You Could Do, which is about Born in the U.S.A. and so much more is very good. I also liked Jeff Gomez's There Was No Alternative, about the No Alternative comp. I got to Tweedy's World Within a Song this year as well. Finally, I devoured Remember the Lightning Vol. 3. :)

I love Hyden's writing, but I was never the biggest Boss fan (gasp). I'm definitely interested in the No Alternative book. And thanks for the kind words about RTL:AGPJv3!!! ⚡️💥
