I think you were lucky to get a publishing contract at all, with the publishing industry at that time moving to its current model of only putting out sure things -- already bestselling authors and celeb/influencers -- and even getting rid of its mid-list authors who were making decent, steady sales. Your books would probably have gotten snapped up in the 80s or 90s -- and optioned for film!
Thanks! No plans for new Tsar music at the moment...but never say never. Also: I wonder if I could even keep up?! JW's songs were always a work out for me. 🤘🤣
The Salem series is amazing. I'd love to make space on the shelf for an addition to the series. As for Tsar? Hmm. I feel like I may know something about them.

Yes. I definitely was very lucky. Rare Bird is willing to takes risks, which I really appreciated.
From a longtime fan, allow me to say congratulations on both anniversaries.
Thanks so much!
Excellent column. I'm glad you continue to pursue both these endeavors although more music by Tsar would be a wonderful thing!

Your column definitely has spurred me to dig out my copy of your first novel and put it on the top of my TBR stack.
Hope you dig it! 😬

Thank you! I'm proud of those books, warts and all. And as for Tsar...
Perhaps I need to see them a few more times to solidify my opinion of them.
Only if Spaceland reopens!
Congrats on the milestones! Here's to many more rad books, newsletters, and sounds!
Thanks, dude!
