He was a very talented musician and although I had heard some of his music years ago and enjoyed it, it was Terry Banks from Dot Dash that reminded me how great he was when he shared some of his music on social media. Interestingly Dot Dash had a chance to play as support for Tommy - that would have been a great show to be at but sadly I didn't make it. Thanks for sharing this article.
Ps - the Television Personalities cover by R. E. Seraphim is brilliant 👏 👌 👏
This is a great tribute. I share your fandom and dig that you picked less obvious tracks to highlight.
One thing though. Yes, Ted Nicely produced or co-produced some Fugazi material but the primary engineer on virtually all their stuff was Don Zientara, who recorded them at his Inner Ear Studio.
A wonderful tribute to Tommy Keene's underappreciated genius! Well done!
Thank you! I think Ray did a fantastic job with this ode.

Keene was a true power pop genius! And I'll pass along your praise for the TP cover.
Thank you 👍
"My Mother Looked Like Marilyn Monroe" is my favorite Tommy Keene track. A very nice highlight of some lesser known track!
Thanks, man! I think Ray did a great job with this.
Tommy Keene You Hear Me is an unsung career retrospective. What a batch of songs.
I am always on the hunt for Keene CDs when I'm in a record store. Maybe I will get lucky in Rockford in a couple weeks.
Guess I need to check out R.E.'s album now too.

Good call. I'll let RE know.
Also, it’s not mentioned here, but I assume you know that Ted Nicely was Tommy’s bass player in Tommy’s earliest solo days, in early ‘89s.
