Great interview about a super band - loving the advance single so I'm sure the album will be great. What I like about this interview is how the artist talks about relating to other contemporary acts - this is what is often missing in today's music, that sense of a music community, a scene of sorts that everyone is listening and contributing to.
Thanks for checking it out! I think there are scenes down on the ground, although it might be hard to see if you aren't a part of them. Philadelphia has a really vibrant guitar pop scene from what I can tell. LA's got some amazing things going on with Uni Boys, Billy Tibbals, etc. The Speedways are doing great things in London. I really do believe it's out there, in pockets. Mo Troper seems connected to a lot of it. Cool stuff happening.
Ya, Portland seems a scene too. There are a lot of great bands here in Toronto but they seem disconnected from each other to me. Vancouver's got a lot of great bands right now too.
Great interview! Fake Ideas was one of the best albums of the year when it came out. The two singles have sounded really strong, though I'm laying off as much as I can because I want to hear them in context of the album. I'm sure I will be blasting the album in my classroom many mornings before school this fall.
Fantastic album and top of the year list material, for sure. So hooky and catchy! Great interview. I reviewed it for a music blog here in Norway. The only Norwegian-language review. So far...? Should be on every guitar pop fan’s list of required listening!
There’s a few. I’d start with Beachheads, Sweden, Caddy, I Was A King, Beezewax, Posterboys, The Yum Yums, The Loch Ness Mouse, Pogo Pops and Popium...

It's a golden age for guitar pop!

Not much longer to wait...AND well worth it.

I agree! I predict it will be on a lot of year end “best of…” lists. What are a few Norwegian guitar pop bands I should check out?

Awesome! Thank you so much.
What blog do you write for?
It’s called Popklikk. (www.popklikk.no). Though infrequently. Day job requires some attention...
