The song that this great piece (power) popped into my head (and now I can’t get it out) is by ELO. Was it a dream, I thought? Perhaps, as I recalled the lyric “in dreams the world keeps going round and round.”

So I then plugged in my early ELO playlist for a walk, and this was soon followed by Mister Kingdom, a deeper, darker rumination on Shakespeare’s afterlife of dreams. And that riff . . . does power pop trace back to Beethoven? 🙂

I’ve actually heard that posited before! Can’t remember where, tho.

Another fantastic list! And even though I have been listening to and collecting power pop since the early '90s, there are many tracks in the playlist that I've never heard before (e.g., "Ain't No Dreamer by Biters, "Dreamin'" by The Metal Byrds, and more) – what a treat that is! As usual, I have some submissions for a "Dreaming of an Honorable Mention" list (let me know if you find these kinds of comments here bothersome or tiresome, and I will refrain in the future):

• Rock 'N' Roll Dream by Uni Boys

• Goodbye Dreaming Fields by Martin Newell

• If I Am Dreaming by The Toms

• The Dream That Took Me Over by The Lickerish Quartet

• Wrapped Up In A Dream by The Boyfriends

• A Dream by Roomtones

• Dream on (C'mon) by Bottlecap Mountain

• Dream Rocker by Tommy Rock

• Same Dream by Bird Streets

• The Dreaming Days Are Over by Mt. Misery

• You Should See What I Do To You In My Dreams by The Amber Squad
