okay, now the jump to The Gun Club as JLP was the founder member of the Blondie fan club ;)

Ha! Every time I bring up to Lucy that I might eventually pick a harder-edged/darker '80s punk band (Black Flag, Misfits, Gun Club, etc.) she winces. Will likely happen eventually...but definitely not "She's Like Heroin to Me"! Maybe "Preaching the Blues" or "For the Love of Ivy." 🤔 (PS: I was lucky enough to see the Gun Club live once during "Mother Juno" and it was incredible.)

Yeah, maybe not the heroin tracks. I could have seen the Gun Club when they toured the UK but for some stupid reason I didn't, much regretted. JLP was a great loss.

Thanks. I agree! I also love that Lucy partially understands the track through the prism of a talented modern underground rock artist like Kate Clover. Intergenerational, indeed.

My favorite Blondie song, and one of my favorite songs by anyone, really. I remember hearing Debbie and Chris talking about it on Robert Klein's "Late Night Radio" show in early 1980, and how it's basically their romantic origin story, and that made me love it even more.

I'm with you. I feel like it doesn't get named often enough as among Blondie's greatest tracks. Thanks for checking it out!

Love One Way or Another, Hanging on the Telephone, 11:59, Atomic, and yes, Dreaming! Blondie did their own thing and changed lanes a few times. This stuff is classic to me though! I don't know that I've heard much that comes close except for maybe some of the great work by the band The Beaches.

Love The Beaches. If you haven't already, check out Kate Clover's catalog. A little more hard-edged, but pop hooks for days.

I also just finished "Under A Rock". Some takeaways:

- Stein's got a helluva memory!

- Overall - I found the book a little depressing. - Amazing how different Stein's NYC was compared to the one I know.

- Upon completing the book - I immediately compiled a Blondie playlist!

- Biggest surprise/reminder excellent song: "Will Anything Happen"!

- Jimmy Destri is a better keyboard player than I ever gave him credit for!

The doctor's office was just playing this in the lobby 5 minutes ago. And then I see this. That's a plate of shrimp. It's all part of the cosmic unconsciousness.
