The first line - “it doesn’t respect genre boundaries” - could be the basis for a full thesis on its own. Based on the songs posted, I’m tracking. But I would say that power pop fully respects other genres by incorporating them into power pop without imitating the genres. In that respect, power pop artists do not confine themselves to a singular original power pop sound or formula, but they respect other genres. Thanks for taking the time to add to IIPP.

I sometimes wonder if it's a genre at all since so few artists call themselves "power pop."
